Designing a cyberworld version of the shotengai area concept I made earlier. I've got an idea for a game that is a successor to Mega Man Battle Network/Star Force and I'm hoping the comp spaces for my game offer something more surreal and dreamlike. I watched a ton of cyberspace media like Tron and ReBoot and I find that cyberspace can often get depicted as a sort of "laser tag purgatory that even its own denizens don't like" so I want to make a dreamy cyberworld that comes off as a more beautiful and inviting. A place you'd want to go to even if it mean getting molecularly digitized.
Another important factor is that every cyberworld is an abstract version of its real world counterpart, helping emphasize how the two are connected and actions in each other world can have repercussions. So this particular comp space is meant to represent any generic comp space within the shotengai town. More unique dungeon-based comp spaces will have their own designs to them.
Also another mechanic here is the security level, as many comp spaces have security software that the player has to either avoid or intentionally anger to progress. Aspects of the level can change and often become more dangerous and enemy filled if the security level gets high.
